For an actor over 70, Harrison Ford sure has his choice of projects that will keep generating income for his bank account, long after he’s hung up his acting cap. It was just yesterday he was talking about potentially reprising his role as Deckard for “Blade Runner 2,” but the project he’s long been rumored for that seems more likely to happen is “Star Wars: Episode 7.” However, it would appear the ever crochety thesp is still playing it coy about returning as Han Solo.
Appearing on “The Graham Norton Show” over in the U.K., Ford was again questioned about the upcoming “Star Wars: Episode 7,” and the actor stated that he had “not quite made the choice’” about appearing in the J.J. Abrams-directed movie. It’s certainly a bit surprising given that the film is tentatively slated to shoot next year, but he also could just be playing coy as well. However, of all the reservations and grumpiness he’s shown for both “Star Wars” and “Blade Runner,” one franchise practically causes him to light up: “Indiana Jones.”
“I would do it in a New York minute, yes,” Ford said about a sequel. “I don’t think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart. I’m old enough that we don’t need (Sean) Connery any more. I’m old enough to play my own father!’”
But of course, that has the longest shot of actually happening, especially now that George Lucas is stepping away from running the Lucasfilm show, with that company pretty much solely focused on “Star Wars” in the immediate future.
So we’ll have to see whether or not Ford ultimately returns to the galaxy far, far away, but maybe someone should pitch another Indy flick. [Metro]
