Hasbro Confirms 10 More Years Of 'Transformers' Movies

Bumblebee TransformersOver the next decade, a lot of things may change in your life. Maybe you’ll graduate from college, have children, get married, win the lottery, take a trip around the world, or move to a new city. But there is one thing that will remain constant, and no, it’s not taxes — it’s "Transformers."

We already know Paramount has created a writers room/brain trust to come up with new ideas for "Transformers" movies, and it was recently revealed the team came up with five feasible pitches for new movies. And these ideas range from the already planned "Transformers 5," to an animated movie set on Cybertron. But no matter what, Hasbro confirmed that they are going to keep pumping out new pictures about the Autobots and Decepticons long into the future.

"You’re going to see a new ‘Transformers’ movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners," Stephen J. Davis, President of Hasbro Studios and Entertainment and Licensing for Hasbro, said during a Q&A at MIPJunior 2015. "In fact, we just finished — as some of you may have read — an incredible experience. We decided we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the ‘Transformers’ franchise, so we got together in a 3 month period of time… nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with — shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for ‘A Beautiful Mind,’ and has written a bunch of great movies. And plotted out the next ten years of ‘Transformers.’ Similarly we are doing the same in television and digital. So stay tuned ‘Transformers 5’ is on its way… And 6 and 7 and 8."

Hooray. And while you may be wearied from the robot smashing mayhem of four movies, just remember, these do huge numbers internationally and show no sign of slowing down. "Transformers 5" is expected in 2017, and will be directed by Michael Bay. [via Comic Book]
