Is the excitement starting to wane for those Marvel Studios-produced Disney+ series, yet? With “WandaVision” kicking things off in January with a huge bang, followed shortly by “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” debuting the new Captain America, it seemed like the MCU streaming debut was going to be just as huge as the feature films. Then, while “Loki” seemed like a hit for a lot of fans, that series didn’t have the same cultural impact as the previous two, and “What If?” seems to be the first MCU series that folks are genuinely meh about. Next up, we have “Hawkeye,” which is hoping to bring some excitement (and holiday cheer) to the MCU this Thanksgiving.
As seen in the new trailer for “Hawkeye,” Marvel Studios is bringing back another fan-favorite Avenger, played by Jeremy Renner, to the streaming world in a new limited series that finds the part-time Avenger, full-time family man training a new sidekick (Hailee Steinfeld), fighting thugs with a variety of trick arrows, and trying to get to his family in time for Christmas. You know, he’s just doing Hawkeye shit.
Joining Renner and Steinfeld in the cast of “Hawkeye” are Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and Alaqua Cox. Florence Pugh, reprising her role from “Black Widow,” is also expected to show up. The series’ directing duties are split in half, with filmmaker Rhys Thomas handling some of the episodes and the duo of Bert and Bertie helming the rest.
The first two episodes of “Hawkeye” debut on November 24, just in time for Thanksgiving and the kickoff of the Christmas season. After that, new episodes will debut weekly, closing out 2021 for the MCU. You can watch the new trailer below:
