Here’s a fairly strong cast conjured up for a small indie we’ve heard nothing about until now. Veteran Helen Hunt, Emmy-winning “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul and former ‘Lost‘ star Maggie Grace will all star alongside Samantha Morton and Christina Hendricks in the feature directorial debut of producer Steven Bernstein, the indie-dramedy “Decoding Annie Parker.”
No word on the exact roles each actor will be taking on, however, Morton is noted to be playing the titular role in the story of the “irrepressible Parker, a breast-cancer patient who stops at nothing to solve the mystery behind her illness despite the beliefs of the medical establishment.” Based on a true story, the film originated from an idea hatched between Bernstein and Clark Peterson after they teamed on Patty Jenkins‘ “Monster,” the former as a DoP and the latter as a producer. Bernstein went on to script the film with Adam Bernstein.
Lensing is set to begin later this month in Los Angeles after the production won a piece of California’s $100 million Film Commission lottery, a fairly new initiative aimed to prevent film productions moving to other states and/or countries. Peterson, Stuart Ross, Keith Kjarval, Mary Vernieu and Ron Senkowski are producing ‘Annie Parker’ with Jonathan Brownlee and Sahil Chanana on board as executive producers. [Variety]
