Just yesterday, news broke about Matthew Vaughn’s new post-‘Kingsman’ film and the all-star cast that is coming together to make it happen. But 24 hours later, not only do we know more about the film, including the title “Argylle,” but we also know the full list of massive stars attached, including Superman, Peacemaker, and a huge pop star.
According to THR, Matthew Vaughn is preparing to film the new spy feature, “Argylle,” and he’s pulled together a truly stellar cast of actors to bring it to life. The film, as the title implies, is based on the novel by Ellie Conway and tells the story of the world’s greatest spy, Argylle. Since Vaughn is no stranger to franchise storytelling, this feature is expected to be the first of a trilogy that will be shot all over the world, with the first film beginning production in August.
So, who is joining the previously announced cast that includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sam Rockwell? None other than Henry Cavill, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O’Hara, John Cena, and Dua Lipa. That’s one hell of a cast for Vaughn, who is coming off a series of “Kingsman” films that are no slouches when it comes to casting, either.
Obviously, we know Catherine O’Hara and Bryan Cranston are great in just about everything they do. And John Cena has proven himself to be a very capable actor, especially when it comes to comedy and action. Henry Cavill, aka Superman, has not only proven he has the charisma needed for a franchise but he’s proven capable in the spy genre with his appearance in “Mission: Impossible—Fallout.” But it’s Dua Lipa that might raise a few eyebrows, as the pop star has yet to have a major acting gig and this is one hell of an introduction to that world. If nothing else, her fans will come in droves to see her in a spy thriller.
No release date for “Argylle” has been revealed, but if filming begins in August, a 2022 debut is likely.
