Heat, action, and crime – what else is the summer at the cinema really good for? If you won’t be sated with other summer high-stakes features like “Men In Black: International,” “Shaft,” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” then we’ve got good news for you. “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw” is coming to theaters this August. Here’s the final trailer for the upcoming adventure and yes, the laws of physics don’t really apply here.
Here’s the synopsis:
Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs, a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw, a former British military elite operative, first faced off, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.
But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever – and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent, who just happens to be Shaw’s sister – these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.
“Hobbs and Shaw” is a spinoff of “The Fast and Furious” film series, which has included 8 films over nearly two decades. “Hobbs and Shaw” specifically features Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and British Special Forces turned mercenary Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham). Vin Diesel initially publicized that a “Fast and Furious” was slated for production in November 2015. Throughout the following years, cast and crew members were announced and assigned including David Leitch (“Deadpool 2,” “Atomic Blonde“) as director and David Scheunemann (“Inglorious Basterds,” “Deadpool 2“) as Production Designer.
In addition to the major stars billed in the principal cast of “Hobbes and Shaw,” it’s been rumored that another action star may have a prominent role. That’s right: none other than Mr. Keanu Reeves. Reeves, despite his decades-long career, is currently on the receiving end of a barrage of adoration and praise from fans and critics alike. (He’s been lauded as the internet’s newest boyfriend and the nicest celebrity in show-biz, to be precise). David Leitch’s experience as co-director on “John Wick” may (hopefully!) lend some credibility to this rumor. If true, and it’s certainly just a rumor at this point, it would certainly make for a busy summer for Reeves with his upcoming appearances in “Toy Story 4” and “John Wick 3.” Will you be showing up for the spinoff of the summer?
