This spring, audiences strapped in for the Vin-sanity of “The Fate Of The Furious,” which hauled in $1.2 billion worldwide like it was no big deal. But has the franchise forgotten the core of what made it so appealing in the first place by focusing on family and drama, and all the things that only Vin Diesel cares about?
That’s the question asked by Screen Junkies in their new Honest Trailer look at the blockbuster smash. Even though Charlize Theron‘s villain doesn’t deliver, The Rock and Diesel don’t share any screentime, and The Rock and Jason Statham get all the best scenes, “The Fate Of The Furious” at least delivers plenty of cars going boom, even if you have no memory of the past three entries, which the film keeps referring to. The franchise formula is pretty simple — cars doing crazy stuff — and “The Fate Of The Furious” almost loses sight of even that.
