Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, we’ve already seen quite a large number of documentaries tackle the subject. But the upcoming HBO documentary, “How to Survive a Pandemic,” takes a fairly unique angle on the situation.
As seen in the new trailer for “How to Survive a Pandemic,” the film focuses on the rapid response to the pandemic from the medical community, particularly the scientists who instantly began working on a vaccine. The film shows how folks were able to create a COVID vaccine in record time, but also how the formulation of the vaccine was just the beginning of the drama, as the rollout became controversial.
“How to Survive a Pandemic” is directed by the Oscar-nominated filmmaker, David France. He’s probably best known for his work on docs such as “How to Survive a Plague” and “Welcome to Chechnya.”
“How to Survive a Pandemic” debuts on HBO on March 29. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
HOW TO SURVIVE A PANDEMIC takes an inside look at the historic, multi-national race to research, develop, regulate, and roll out COVID-19 vaccines in the war against the coronavirus pandemic. The documentary began filming in early 2020 as the largest public health effort in history got underway and followed those efforts of over the next 18 months, exploring in real time the hard work and collaboration of health agencies worldwide, as well as the political and moral failures of governments to act impartially and equitably.
