Before we get to the trailer for “Human Discoveries,” you have to make sure you know what Facebook Watch is. With Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and even YouTube getting into the original streaming content game, you know that Facebook has to be involved too. Thus, the website has created Facebook Watch, a streaming platform that they swear people know about, but let’s be real, no one knows about. Maybe all it needs is an animated series with Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick?
Enter “Human Discoveries.”
As seen in the new trailer for the upcoming Facebook Watch series, “Human Discoveries” is an animated series set 10,000 years ago, following the exploits of early humans, as they attempt to figure out how to navigate society and run into situations that are eerily similar to what folks in 2019 go through, including wanting to make people jealous when you’re on vacation, getting hammered at parties and paying for it the next day, and also gender equality issues. It’s social commentary, people!
The series stars the vocal talents of Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick, as well as Lisa Kudrow, Paul Scheer, Jillian Bell, Lamorne Morris, and Ed Begley, Jr.
Will “Human Discoveries” be enough to get people to watch something on Facebook? We shall see. Surprisingly, Facebook Watch isn’t without quality content. Last year, the service launched “Sorry for Your Loss,” starring Elizabeth Olsen, which went on to become critically acclaimed. So, maybe slow and steady is the way Facebook is going to succeed against the streaming giants. Lord knows the social media company has plenty of money to compete.
“Human Discoveries” arrives on Facebook on July 16.
