This summer, “Vice Principals” showed what happens when two educators vie for the same job, and now at the multiplex there will be more educational mayhem with “Fist Fight.” It may not be the smartest or most original premise you’ve ever heard, but sometimes the simplest ideas generate the biggest laughs.
Led by Ice Cube and Charlie Day, with Christina Hendricks, Jillian Bell, Tracy Morgan, and Dennis Haysbert in support, the concept for this one is simple: one teacher challenges another to an after school fight. Maybe neither of these guys should be educating anybody. At any rate, here’s the official synopsis:
On the last day of the year, mild-mannered high school English teacher Andy Campbell (Charlie Day) is trying his best to keep it together amidst senior pranks, a dysfunctional administration and budget cuts that put jobs on the line. But things go from bad to worse when he accidentally crosses his much tougher and deeply feared colleague, Ron Strickland (Ice Cube), who challenges Campbell to an old-fashioned throwdown after school. News of the fight spreads like wildfire and ends up becoming the very thing this school, and Campbell, needed.
Richie Keen (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) is behind the camera for this one which opens on February 17, 2017.
