There are certain animals that will always scare the crap out of people. Sharks are one. Bears are another. And of course, there are lions, perhaps the fiercest of them all. And in the upcoming film, “Beast,” that predatory feline squares off against none other than Idris Elba.
According to THR, Elba is set to star in the upcoming film, “Beast,” from director Baltasar Kormakur. The exact plot is unknown at this time, but the report claims the film will have a similar feel to “The Shallows,” which featured a helpless person being stalked by a shark. Except for this film, replace the shark with a lion and the water with land. Oh and take out Blake Lively and insert Idris Elba.
Elba is one of the busier actors working today. In addition to not playing James Bond, Elba is set to have a number of films released over the next year or so. There’s “Concrete Cowboy,” which is playing fall film festivals now. He’s also set for “The Suicide Squad” in 2021. We also can’t forget about his role opposite Tilda Swinton in George Miller’s “Three–Thousand Years of Longing.” He’s also set to take on a Western in “The Harder They Fall,” and he’ll become a spy in Simon Kinberg’s upcoming film. Busy, busy, indeed.
Filmmaker Baltasar Kormakur is probably best known for his film, “Everest,” but he’s also helmed features such as “The Oath,” “2 Guns,” “Contraband,” and his most recent, “Adrift.” He’s also expected to direct a new film starring Mark Wahlberg, titled “Arthur the King.”
It’s unclear when Elba and Kormakur will fit “Beast” into their schedules, but hopefully, it’ll happen sooner rather than later. We need to see Elba fighting off a lion.
