Rising starlet Imogen Poots has joined the film adaptation of Nick Hornby's novel "A Long Way Down," which has Pascal Chaumeil at the helm. She'll star along side Toni Collette, Pierce Brosnan and Emile Hirsch, who previously joined the tale of four disparate individuals who meet one another on a London rooftop on New Year's Eve, all with the same intention to commit suicide. Instead of jumping, these complete strangers make a pact to stay alive and stay together until at least Valentine's Day. Lensing begins this September in London from a script by Jack Thorne, whose debut film "The Scouting Book For Boys" earned major praise. [THR]
Michael Winterbottom's "24 Hour Party People" featured an excellent performance by the versatile Steve Coogan as Factory Records head Tony Martin, and the actor is now set to return to the '70's British music scene. Coogan is joining Elaine Constantine's "Northern Soul," a film about the underground nightclub-based, Motown-centric music movement that took the bleak industrial North-West of England by storm. "Me And Orson Welles" lead Christian McKay co-stars along with James Lance, Roisin Murphy, Elliot James Langridge, Josh Whitehouse and singer Lisa Stansfield. [THR]
"Breaking Bad" has been going from strength to strength since it's debut, and with only one season left, the AMC series is set for a explosive conclusion. "Friday Night Lights" and future "The Master" star Jesse Plemons has now been added to the cast as Todd, a dependable, innocuous, working-class guy sure to cross paths with our leads, Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, excellently played by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. Half of the final series will air beginning June 2012 with the other half playing sometime in 2013. [TVLine]
Former 'Prison Break' star Amaury Nolasco and Megalyn Echikunwoke ("Damsels In Distress") will help Bruce Willis on his "Good Day To Die Hard." Nolasco will play a compatriot of John McClane's with Echikunwoke's role kept under wraps, though the duo join Jai Courtney (who plays McClane's son Jack) with Cole Hauser, Sebastian Koch and Yulia Snigir all as villains. The script by Skip Woods is apparently set predominately in Moscow, with lensing taking place as we speak for its February 14th, 2013 release. Nothing says Valentine's Day like John McClane. Richard Dreyfuss heads a number of additions to Martin Weisz's "Squatters," which stars Thomas Dekker and Gabriella Wilde for the Justin Shilton-scripted tale of a young homeless couple who squat in a Pacific Palisades mansion with things obviously becoming complicated when the house's owners return. Lolita Davidovich, Nancy Travis, Evan Ross, Luke Grimes and Andrew Howard also star. [Variety]
