Imogen Poots Set For A 'Fright Night'

We’ve got no great love for the original “Fright Night,” so we were sort of dreading the upcoming remake. But then it started adding talent, and we got a little more intrigued; first, Craig Gillespie, director of the excellent “Lars and the Real Girl,” signed on to helm, and then the cast came in, with Anton Yelchin in the lead, Toni Collette as his mother, Colin Farrell as the vampiric villain, former Doctor Who and movie-star-in-waiting David Tennant taking over from Roddy McDowall, and Christopher Mintz-Plass as Evil Ed; all in all, a pretty excellent cast.

And it’s now been topped off by the addition of one of The Playlist’s big tips for stardom in the next few years, young British actress Imogen Poots, who’ll play Yelchin’s girlfriend in the remake, according to Heat Vision. The actress first appeared as one of the child leads in “28 Weeks Later,” and has since appeared in the likes of Neil Marshall’s “Centurion,” “Me and Orson Welles,” “Cracks” and turned in an excellent performance in Michael Douglas-starrer “Solitary Man.” Plus she’s got Hideo Nakata’s “Chatroom” and Cary Fukunaga’s “Jane Eyre” on the way.

We’re hearing decidedly mixed word on the script, but we figure that there’s got to be something beyond a paycheck to attract a cast like this one. Filming kicks off in this summer in New Mexico, which, thanks to a hefty series of tax breaks, has become the go-to place to film outside L.A, with the likes of “Thor” and “Let Me In” also shooting there.
