Indie Trailer: 'Kisses'

It comes out this Friday and we’re a little late to the party, but Irish filmmaker Lance Daly’s long delayed indie feature, “Kisses,” is finally coming to theaters.

The picture appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2008 and was picked up by Oscilloscope Pictures, but for whatever reason, the film wasn’t released until now.

Starring Shane Curry and Kelly O’Neill, the film centers around two Irish kids, Dylan and Kylie, who run away from home at Christmas and spend a night of magic and terror on the streets of inner-city Dublin.

This writer saw it back in the day at the fest and while imperfect and maybe a bit too sentimental at times, it’s a sweet little film and worth checking out, especially if you like low-key indie dramas bolstered by some strong child performances (O’Neill is particularly good).

The score is by a band named GoBlimpsGo and while we have no idea who they are (and have asked Oscilloscope), maybe more important is that if you’re a fan of moody, Mogwai-meets-folky-plaintive soundtracks, you might dig the movie for more reasons then just one. Jeff Wells liked it too if that means anything to you (our review later this week).

Here’s the trailer. “Kisses” hits theaters in limited release on July 16.
