At the end of May, Warner Bros. was looking at Kate Upton, Elizabeth Debicki and Katherine Waterston as possibilities to play the lead role in the "Harry Potter" spinoff "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them." Now the studio has made a decision.
"Inherent Vice" star Waterston has landed the part of the witchy Tina in the picture to be led by Eddie Redmayne. Based on J.K. Rowling‘s book, the story is set in New York 70 years before Harry comes into the picture, focusing on Newt Scamander, a “magiczoologist” on a quest to document all the magical creatures he can find. Other major parts yet to be cast include Queenie and Jacob, but I’d wager WB is likely narrowing those decisions soon.
David Yates will direct, and ‘Beasts’ arrives on November 18, 2016. [THR]
