Interpol Bassist Internet Resume Finally Pays Off, Gets Job On 'My Friends Told Me About You'

The bassist for “Interpol” Carlos D. (née Dengler) is attempting to address what it really means to be stricken with the misfortune of being a celebrity with the new short “My Friends Told Me About You,” a movie he co-wrote with director/friend Daniel Ryan (because you know D is mobbed by TMZ, Just Jared and the Papz wherever he goes). Carlos D. has been feeling as though his life won’t be complete without an Oscar, and has been attempting to get his foot in the door as a film composer for years now, even going as setting upon a website/online resume.

Carlos D. got a chance to score the short, as well as star in it as mustached (possibly child molesting) pot-dealer. His film scoring experience comes from writing the score to “Golgatha,” also made by Daniel Ryan.

If you have a burning desire to waste 26-minutes of your life, check out “My Friends Told Me About You” at New York’s Anonymous Gallery starting on April 17th. Alas, if you care to read Dengler’s press release which address the affliction of celebrity check it out at Pitchfork. The first two lines are below, and yes, the whole thing is as unbelievably pretentious.

“Celebrity is a kind of affliction, a malaise, in essence, a condition. It is part of a psychosis derived from the overabundance of positive value assignments made by a crowd choosing a particular visage to carry these assignments.”

Shit’s deep.
