"It's Not For Real": James McAvoy Says The Crow Talks Is Just 'Rumors'

nullJames McAvoy’s set to become ubiquitous in 2013. His assault on the silver screen begins this Friday (in the UK at least) with the release of Eran Creevy’s “Welcome to the Punch,” with Danny Boyle’s “Trance” arriving later in the month, and the Irvine Welsh adaptation “Filth” (which has already screened to UK press despite not yet having a release date) surely not far behind. That’s before we’ve even got to “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His” and “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers” with Jessica Chastain, which similarly don’t have release dates set yet but we wouldn’t be surprised to see before the year is out.

But even with all those projects on the horizon, that hasn’t stopped the press asking McAvoy various questions about his future and potential projects during interviews for “Welcome to the Punch,” with “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “Wanted 2” and a reboot of “The Crow” all being discussed. The latter project is an interesting one, as it’s one that just won’t die (geddit?) despite multiple writers, directors and actors coming and going from the project. There hasn’t been a lead in place since Bradley Cooper withdrew now over 18 months ago, but then last month it was reported that McAvoy was circling the role of Eric Draven.

So when McAvoy was asked directly whether he’d signed on or not he replied with a negative, but that’s not to say he completely ruled it out. Here’s the direct quote: “It’s not for real. I don’t think it’s materialized into anything truthful yet…it’s just been rumor mill stuff.” As well as the promotional rounds for these new movies, McAvoy’s currently busy playing Macbeth in the West End, so frankly it’s impressive that he’s even got time to think about signing on to do anything new. He even revealed during the same interview that although Bryan Singer’s sent him the new ‘X-Men’ script it’s sitting in his inbox unread because he just hasn’t had the time to read it. If anybody deserves a night off… [ComingSoon]
