We’ve seen countless horror movies come down the line in recent years “based on” or “inspired by” a true story. But we’ve never quite seen the actual real people behind the stories get involved in the marketing of the movie. Well, nothing stays the same, and with James Wan‘s “The Conjuring” coming in a few short weeks, Warner Bros. has got the actual family out to let audiences know: yes, this really did happen to them.
And a brand new trailer for the movie has arrived, and in between scenes from the film, the real life Perron family share their history. You see, in the 1970s they spent a decade dealing with supernatural spirits in their Harrisville, Rhode Island farmhouse, in what is apparently one of the most famous “true life” haunting stories of all time. And in this movie, things literally get hair raising, though you wonder why no one just spent the night in a motel or rented an apartment in the city until they could Ghostbuster the house or whatever.
Anyway, Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga and Lily Taylor lead the cast, and snark aside, the buzz on this is very strong. “The Conjuring” hides under your floorboards on July 19th.
