Jack Black To "School" The Kids In Rock, Once Again

It looks like someone liked the “School Of Rock 2,” script that screenwriter Mike White turned in a few weeks ago, because the long-gestating project is now a go according to Variety (some bloggers are going to whine up a storm for not getting credit).

Paramount Pictures has greenlit the project that will once again star Jack Black and be directed by Richard Linklater. “School of Rock 2: America Rocks,” will once again chronicle Black’s dimwitted substitute school teacher turned rocker and this time he takes a group of summer-school students on a field trip to explore the history of rock, which now includes, hip-hop, country and other genres.

The first one was cute and charming, but how much further can they stretch out this idea? Will it be the same kids? Aren’t they all growed up and probably in that ugly-awkward early teen phase? We can’t hate too much, like we said, the original was endearing, but we’re marinating a wait-and-see attitude here. Jack Black will turn up later this summer in “Tropic Thunder.” Apparently we’ll have to wait until June 2009, to see him in the Judd Apatow-produced, “Year One.”
