While there was some brief talk for the leftover footage from the “Jackass 3D” shoot to be cobbled together for a quickie sequel to the box office hit, Paramount has decided to follow in the footsteps of “Jackass 2.5” and release the footage to DVD and online outlets.
With the cheapie “Jackass 3D” racking up nearly $90 million in box office receipts already, you might think that Paramount would be eager to piggyback it with a quick and dirty sequel in theaters. But that would require spending money on a marketing campaign and money on editing the footage into something resembling a movie. Why waste the money when you can just put the bits together, shuffle it off onto DVD, and wait for the money to come in? The plan is to release “Jackass 3.5” in January (sorry, no raunchy stocking stuffers this year) prior to the DVD/BluRay release “Jackass 3D.” So yes, that means you will have to buy both separately.
So if you liked watching the Jackass dudes getting nailed in balls, rest assured, more is on the way.
