James Cameron Explains Why 'Terminator 2: Judgment Day' Went 3D

Terminator 2: Judgment Day” is coming back to cinemas, which is a great thing, but it will be in 3D which is….a bit less exciting. James Cameron‘s 1991 sequel still remains one of the best blockbusters of all time, a great sci-fi film, and a terrific piece of popcorn entertainment. So any reason to see it on the big screen is a good one, but the director is spending some time trying to explain why 3D is necessary this time around.

The new trailer for the 4K restored film has arrived, and Cameron declares the 3D is “spectacular,” but doesn’t seem to have a reason why it needs to be converted in the first place, other than because they can. Oh, and because “the images feel more real,” whatever that means. Nonetheless, having to deal with the gimmick of a few more things virtually in your face during ‘Judgment Day’ is perhaps worth sticking it out just to see this movie on the big screen again (or for the first time).

“Terminator 2: Judgment Day” lands back in cinemas on August 25th.
