Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel have teased and taunted fans of their feature adaptation of “Jay & Seth Vs. Apocalypse,” the Internet sensation that hit all the way back in 2007, for far too long. But along with the recent announcement by Rogen that lensing will take place in early 2012, the actor has now revealed that two friends and regular collaborators in James Franco and Jonah Hill will be featuring in the film as themselves.
“It’s a very strange movie, but it’s gonna happen,” Rogen told the Winnipegg Free Press. “It’s all our friends, luckily, and we all play ourselves in the movie. … I literally play Seth Rogen in the movie and Jay Baruchel literally plays himself in the movie and others — Jonah Hill, James Franco — they’re literally playing themselves in the movie.”
We’re sure Franco and Hill won’t be last of the Apatow crowd to feature or be the last meta-cameos (‘Harry Potter‘ star Daniel Radcliffe has already been rumored), with Baruchel once revealing that he wants “a bunch of cameos, but I just want them to be corpses. I want them to be like ‘oh god there’s Will Smith‘s dead body in the corner!’ And it would actually be him. So that’s my recurring joke for the movie: I want there to be a lot of dead famous people in it.”
Another interesting tidbit that Rogen explained about the story, which he wrote with partner-in-crime Evan Goldberg, is that it follows “a bunch of friends who are stuck in a house together as the apocalypse happens outside and they kind of barricade themselves in. They think they’ve kind of survived the worst and then they realize they all really can’t stand to be around each other as they’re stuck in this house together.” The infamous faux-trailer only starred Rogen and Baruchel but it looks like, in true Rogen and friends fashion, the film adaptation may feature a gang of misfits lazing around rather than just the duo.
