Okay, so in addition to having two films at the Sundance Film Festival — "Kink" which he produced, and "Interior. Leather Bar." which he co-directed — James Franco is also in post on his Cormac McCarthy adaptation "Child Of God" and the omnibus film "Black Dog, Red Dog." And that's not to mention the stuff that pays his bills, like Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers" and Sam Raimi's "Oz The Great And Powerful" which are coming to theaters later this year. You would think that heading to Park City would allow Franco a moment to breathe, but nah, dude just lined up another project.
Franco is set to direct and star in "Beautiful People," a biopic on the famed '60s hairstylist Jay Sebring. He was a hairstylist to the stars, and worked on TV shows and films, most notably "The Thomas Crown Affair," "Bullitt" and "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid." But his life came to a tragic end when he was murdered along with Sharon Tate — with whom he shared a brief romance — by Charles Manson's followers. The film was penned by Lauren Wild, and the story will focus on Sebring's rise through '60s Hollywood.
No word on where this falls on Franco's always growing slate of things to do, but we have to say, he certainly choose projects that are unique and challenging, and this seems particularly interesting.
