Sebastian Stan, Jamie Bell, & Margaret Qualley Team With 'Donnybrook' Filmmaker For 'The Chain'

Every year, we’re lucky enough to check out some festival films that surprise us and become some of our favorites. Last year, “Donnybrook” was one of those films. Directed by Tim Sutton and starring Jamie Bell and Margaret Qualley, “Donnybrook” was easily one of the best films to come out of the fall festivals and is luckily finally getting released this year. And to make matters even better, those three talented individuals are getting the band back together for a brand-new film, which is instantly going to be one of our most-anticipated.

Deadline is reporting that Sutton has agreed to write and direct a new film titled “The Chain,” which will star the aforementioned “Donnybrook” actors Bell and Qualley. And to sweeten the pot even further, the report says the cast will be rounded out by ‘Avengers’ star Sebastian Stan and Denise Gough.

“The Chain” is said to be based on the short story of the same name from author Tobias Wolff. The film will tell the story of a man’s daughter who was viciously attacked by a dog, leading to a catastrophic chain of events.

Voltage Pictures is handling the international sales of the film, with the studio’s president and COO Jonathan Deckter saying, “The incomparable Tobias Wolff is one of my favorite authors and we’re even bigger fans of Jamie Bell since working with him on the powerful feature ‘Skin.’ We’re thrilled to partner with our friends at Rumble Films to bring Tim Sutton’s adaptation to audiences around the world. It ticks all the boxes for a strong, international commercial contender so we could not be happier to be representing ‘The Chain.’”

As mentioned, the film will hope to find a distributor at this year’s Berlin Film Festival and hopefully, we’ll learn more about a possible release date in the coming months.
