'Jane Got A Gun' Director Gavin O’Connor To Explore 'Massacre In The Himalayas'

As his career has pressed forward, director Gavin O’Connor‘s film titles have gotten progressively blunter: “Pride And Glory,” “Warrior” and his forthcoming, “Jane Got A Gun.” And now he’s got another that makes no bones about the subject and thematic elements.

The director has signed up to helm “Massacre In The Himalayas,” which is exactly what it sounds like. The film will be based on Men’s Journal article (read it here) by Freddie Wilkinson, that tells the true story of a dozen mountain climbers, trying to reach the summit of K2, who are attacked and eventually killed by Pakistani terrorists. Ten were killed, with one surviving by jumping off a cliff…

And while it’s a great true story, Variety notes it will be fictionalized, but let’s hope they don’t get too creative with the adaptation. No word yet on whether or not this will be the filmmaker’s next effort, but probably not, as it still needs a script, with a screenwriter being sought.
