Before we begin, can we just have a moment of silence of Lane Pryce?………..Okay, with that out of the way, there's no need to weep for former "Mad Men" star Jared Harris as he's joining an upcoming and hotly touted young adult novel adaptation, along with another actress who is currently experiencing some small screen heat of her own.
Harris, "Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey (who also features in the upcoming "Dredd" looking quite different) and Godfrey Gao have joined "The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones," but sorry fans, it's not clear which roles they're taking just yet. Based on the book by Cassandra Clare, 'Mortal Instruments' tells the story of a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Collins), who discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.
Jamie Campbell-Bower, Kevin Durand, Jemima West and wrestler Robert Maillet round out the…interesting…cast thus far. Production on the film gears up soon with Harald Zwart at the helm and there are still lots of roles left to be cast. 'City Of Bones' opens on August 23, 2013. [THR]
