Jared Leto Does What Jared Leto Does In Gloomy, Angst-y 'Morbius' First Look Image

Do we even need to watch “Morbius?” Obviously, we don’t know the intricacies of the plot for the upcoming “Spider-Man” spin-off film from Sony (which is likely to be included in the new universe that ‘Venom’ launched last year). However, just knowing that the film is about Marvel’s “Living Vampire” and stars Jared Leto, we all pretty much can figure out what “Morbius” is going to be like, right? Well, to confirm your suspicions, Leto has released a little teaser for the film.

Teaser may not be the right word for it, but basically, Leto has shared a little video of a crowded New York City street with people dashing by him but the actor remains still. He’s in a hoodie, so you can’t really see the face, but it’s clear that Leto is full-on dark, dreary, goth guy for the film about the vampire.

For those that aren’t hip to the Marvel lore, “Morbius” tells the story of Dr. Michael Morbius (not the best name for a medical doctor, right?), who is desperately attempting to cure a rare blood disorder, but instead infects himself with a toxin that makes him a “living vampire.” Basically, he’s got all the “cool” vampire side effects (flight, strength, healing, hypnotism), but with that one pesky “thirst for blood” thing.

As mentioned, “Morbius” is the second film to debut in Sony’s Spider-Man-free Spidey-verse that is currently comprised of Tom Hardy’s “Venom” (and its eventual sequel). The studio is betting big on its library of strange Spider-Man spin-off characters to create a fully-fledged cinematic universe that doesn’t rely on the Webhead. So far, with “Venom,” Sony is succeeding, at least financially.
