Some filmmakers’ biggest cheerleaders are actors that have worked with them previously. James Gunn has Dave Bautista, for example. And in the case of Zack Snyder, he has “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa as his #1 fan. As detailed in a new Instagram post, Momoa credits the filmmaker for giving him the career he has now, thanks to casting him as Arthur Curry in the DCEU, but also adds serious fuel to the fire of those hoping for the Snyder Cut of “Justice League.”
“Well let’s be honest if it wasn’t for this man we wouldn’t have Aquaman I love u Zachary synder. Mahalo for showing me the synder cut,” he wrote.
He added, “I wish I was a better actor but I can’t lie. The Snyder cut is ssssiiicccckkkkkk #luckymesucksforu.”
As we’ve said, time and time again, the coveted “Snyder Cut” is definitely a real thing, as is every single assembly cut that is delivered to the studio after the director puts together the footage that was shot. But an assembly cut doesn’t mean that there’s a releasable version of the film that Warner Bros. is sitting on, refusing to give to the fans.
That being said, if there was ever an unfinished film that could be released to the public, it would be Snyder’s first cut of “Justice League.” Not because it should be released, but instead, fans are ravenous for this cut and WB could use it as an opportunity to recoup just a little bit of the money that was lost in the release of the film back in 2017.
To date, “Justice League” is the second-lowest grossing DCEU film, behind “Shazam!” And with the resurgence of Momoa’s Aquaman character, thanks to James Wan’s film, there could be some money made in releasing a new version of “Justice League.” However, we’re almost two years removed from the film’s release and the studio seems hellbent on leaving Snyder’s vision in the past, so the odds of the Snyder Cut seeing the light of day are solidly in the slim-to-none range.
