According to his newly created Twitter page, director Jason Reitman is apparently laboriously working in post-production for his upcoming film “Up In The Air” to be ready to premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.
Currently, Reitman’s twitter biography reads: “A brief chronicle of my attempt to finish my film in time for the Toronto Film Festival” while his first ‘tweet’ proclaims: “This is the first and perhaps only tweet I will ever write. I’m three weeks into editing. I’ll try to be as forthright as possible.”
“Up In The Air” is based on the Walter Kirn novel of the same name and follows the story of a corporate downsizer’s (George Clooney) whose untethered life consumed by collecting air miles and receiving VIP travel treatment is interrupted when he finally meets his match in a businesswoman (Vera Farmiga) who might be the one to finally ground the airborne-happy traveler.
The film was recently revealed to be coming out this December but will now seemingly premiere three months earlier at the Toronto International Film Festival which runs from September 10 — 19 which is exactly what Reitman’s “Juno” did in 2007. That is presuming TIFF accepts the film if its completed on time, but with an existing relationship, we don’t see how the Toronto organizers would deny it. We reviewed the film’s script earlier this year and enjoyed it for the most part – we felt it was very Reitman-esque though much more reminiscent of his work in “Thank You For Smoking” than the aforementioned pregnancy-comedy.
