Jason Segel and Ed Helms will team with the Duplass Brothers for their upcoming stoner-quest-comedy “Jeff Who Lives At Home” which is being produced by Jason Reitman’s Right Of Way shingle.
The film continues the Duplass’ rise in Hollywood and will chronicle a day in the life of two brothers, one loser (Segel) and the other a little more together (Helms). Judy Greer of “Arrested Development” fame will play Helm’s wife with the role of the protagonists’ mother still being cast.
“It’s our take on a quest movie,” one of brothers previously explained. “It’s like a ‘Sword in the Stone’ movie. But it’s starring a stoner who is looking for wood glue. We are always going to mess with genre and use it to our favor… Jason Reitman is producing for us. We are shooting in the spring. This is the movie we were born to make. We are more than ready to jump into this one.”
The brothers had previously hinted that the actors involved were “half inside of [the stoner/comedy] world and half not” and we were sort of right in guessing Apatow stable talent. The duo will also see their Sundance hit “Cyrus,” starring John C. Reilly, Marisa Tomei and Jonah Hill hit theaters this summer and are still attached to helm their script “Table 19” about the misfits at a wedding party singles table for Fox Searchlight under Shawn Levy’s production banner.
