‘Monster’ Director Patty Jenkins Also On Board, One More Name To Be Announced
As we’ve elaborated on at length in the past, omnibus films are a mixed bag at best. It’s just hard to take a diverse array of talent and cram it into one coherent vision, but damn if Hollywood just won’t stop trying.
Deadline reports that a rather eclectic bunch of folks have joined to direct segments of the upcoming Lifetime movie on breast cancer. Jennifer Aniston, Alicia Keys (!?), Demi Moore and Patty Jenkins (“Monster“) are all on board to direct pieces in a film that will attempt one interconnected story arc among five short films that will mix comedy and drama to tell the effects and repercussions of breast cancer among women. One more director is yet to be announced.
So, while we admire the goal of the film, the words “Lifetime movie” don’t exactly fill us with confidence. And while it’s nice Alicia Keys is taking a step into filmmaking…well, maybe we’ll just hold back the snark and just leave it at that.
Stephen Godchaux (“Dead Like Me“), Jill Gordon (“My So-Called Life,” “The Wonder Years“), Howard Morris, Deirdre O’Connor, and Wendy West (“Dexter“) have penned the script. No word yet on when this will film or hit television screens, but National Breast Cancer Awareness month in October 2012 seems like a good fit.
