"I was sitting with Paul and I said to him, 'This is hilarious.' I have this horrible sense of humor where I think discomfort is funny—partly because I experience discomfort a lot, and it’s a way of laughing at it and getting a release. "
It's an oblique picture, but it's ambiguity is powerful (though maddening to some) and the acting is masterclass all the way (you can read two of our early positive reviews here). And if somehow you don't know what this flm is about (if that's possible), here's a terse synopsis:

Co-starring Amy Adams, Laura Dern with a lot of striking memorable performances by newcomers like Jesse Plemons, Ambyr Childers, Rami Malek and perhaps our fave, Madisen Beaty, it'll be interesting to see how civillians (non-critics and non-fanboys) react to the film. "The Master" opens on five screens today in New York and L.A. The film begins to expand on September 21st.
