I guess it’s safe to say that Ridley Scott really likes working with Jodie Comer. After casting her to star in his upcoming period drama, “The Last Duel,” the director has gone ahead and picked Comer to star opposite Joaquin Phoenix in his upcoming Apple TV+ historical epic, “Kitbag.”
According to Deadline, Comer is in the process of making a deal to co-star in the upcoming Napoleon Bonaparte epic, “Kitbag,” directed by Ridley Scott. As mentioned, the film stars Phoenix as Bonaparte with Comer expected to play his wife, Josephine. While the film is expected to have all the historical battle scenes and large-scale story that you might expect from a Scott film, the relationship between Napoleon and Josephine is said to be at the center of the story, with their tumultuous relationship proving to be the driving force.
Comer is just coming off work on “The Last Duel,” which is the upcoming film that stars Adam Driver and Matt Damon. She is probably best known for her work on the Emmy-winning series, “Killing Eve.” Comer is also slated to star in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds action-comedy, “Free Guy.” Clearly, her career is about to take off in a big, big way, so starring in two Ridley Scott features in such a short time only proves that point. Before her work on “Killing Eve,” Comer was a veteran of TV series for years, with her biggest role being in “The White Princess.”
Scott is incredibly busy right now. He’s putting the finishing touches on the aforementioned “The Last Duel.” Then he’ll begin production on his highly-anticipated “Gucci,” which has an incredible cast. Then after that is wrapped, he is expected to begin work on “Kitbag.” Needless to say, it’s unclear when we might see “Kitbag” arrive on Apple TV+.
