Joe Manganiello Joins 'Breacher' With Arnold Schwarzenegger & Sam Worthington

nullIt's likely just a matter of time before Joe Manganiello becomes a big deal on the big screen. The "True Blood" star was in the final batch of contenders to lead Zack Snyder's "Man Of Steel," and this summer he showed that his big physique was just as capable of delivering laughs in Steven Soderbergh's "Magic Mike." Now it looks like Manganiello's imposing bod will get another shot at proving he's multiplex muscle as the actor is gearing up to join a fast-moving cop thriller.

THR reports that Manganiello is in negotiations to join Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Terence Howard and Dawn Olivieri in David Ayer's "Breacher." Yes, it's another tale about the boys in blue from Ayer, albeit this time it's with a script from Skip Woods ("Swordfish," "The A-Team") with a bit of an Agatha Christie twist. The story centers on an elite DEA task force who rob a drug cartel safe house, after which each member of the team starts getting taken down one by one. Manganiello would play a character with the unfortunate name of Grinder, who has a change of heart and tries to contact the cops about the nefarious scheme.

While Ayer seems to have been on autopilot for a while, and Woods is a screenwriter we generally like to stay away from, this one is assembling a pretty decent cast, and the concept is promising as far as genre efforts go. Filming will kick off in October, so by next year we'll probably see the results.
