The image of Joe Manganiello in a musty basement rolling twenty-sided die isn’t one we’d immediately associate with the buff actor, but apparently he can nerd out with the best of them.
While he waits to get the call (and hopes the phone will still ring) for “The Batman,” the actor revealed to Happy Sad Confused that he’s co-written his own script for an adaptation of the classic, role-playing fantasy game, “Dungeons & Dragons.”
“Obviously, there’s a spectacle. There’s dragons breathing fire and lightning … But what makes a great superhero or fantasy movie is the human aspect. It’s got to be about something,” Manganiello said.
And this isn’t just some idle fan-fic he’s writing. The actor reveals he’s actually met with D&D publisher Wizards Of The Coast to discuss “where [the film] could go, what it should look like, and what it should be.” However, all that being said, there are likely some roadblocks to overcome, a big one being Warner Bros.‘ developing film announced last summer, that has Ansel Elgort slated to star. But hey, maybe WB can give Manganiello a ring (or vice versa) and maybe they can start a campaign together. Certainly, everyone involved can improve on the 2000 “Dungeons & Dragons” movie that I bet you already forgot existed.
