Joel Edgerton Says Everything Is "Wonderful" On The Set Of 'Jane Got A Gun'

nullWe’re not going to recount the saga of the various ins and outs of the currently in production western “Jane Got A Gun,” but if there is one person (besides Natalie Portman) who has seen the project through from day one, it’s Joel Edgerton. Originally slated to play the villain, only to switch to the husband role when Michael Fassbender bailed and Jude Law joined (the latter exited, to be replaced by Cooper…who left earlier this week…) Edgerton has weathered the storm, and while on the outside it might look like the movie is in turmoil, according to him, it couldn’t be better.

“We’re winning out there. We’re having a great time. It’s been wonderful,” he told Vulture. And in fact, things seem to be moving along quite nicely, thank-you-very-much. The actor notes that the movie is “about halfway or more” through production and adds that “nothing will have to be reshot.” Even more interestingly, he adds that he hadn’t shot any scenes Fassbender, Law, or Cooper (playing the gang leader Edgerton’s character double crosses) so it does seem that it’s just a matter of finding someone else to sign on and help get this movie finished.

So there you go…perhaps this will be on troubled production that comes out smelling like roses? We’ll see… Bonus round: MCN recently sat down to chat with Edgerton and he addressed the situation and weighed in the folks who comment over at Deadline. Pretty hilar. The full version of this interview will be up…sometime in October? The turnaround on these DP/30s can sometimes take a while….
