Who does he think he is? Woody Allen? It seems Terrence Malick is using his engimatic appeal and auteur status to basically get whoever the hell he wants for "Knight Of Cups." It seems that if you happen to be nearby where he's shooting, and you're a celebrity, you can get a part in the film. And another name has joined the ranks.
Future "RoboCop" and "Snabba Cash" star Joel Kinnaman has taken a role as a "rich playboy" in the film, according to Swedish outlet SvD. And as usual, that's all the info there is. But since we're here, there are a couple more nuggets to share. Remember those rumors about Antonio Banderas snagging a role? Well, extra Brett Anderson says he recently completed scenes with both Banderas and Christian Bale. Lucky dude. Meanwhile, a peek over on the IMDB page reveals Thomas Lennon and Michael Wincott may also have roles as well. And finally, Las Vegas Review-Journal says that semi-famous Elvis impersonator Paul Casey also shot scenes for the movie.
So what does this all mean? Well, we still have no fucking clue what this movie is about (though so far we deduce it's about Bale's "depressed writer" finding a cure with some hot women), and who knows how many of the the actors (which we'll run down in a moment) will feature in the final cut. Moreover, knowing Malick's production speed, any further details won't surface for a couple of years yet.
Nevertheless, there are few filmmakers as fascinating, and we'll be damned if we're not curious as well to see how this all turns out. Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Isabel Lucas, Wes Bentley, Imogen Poots, Freida Pinto, Teresa Palmer and Ryan O'Neal round out the cast thus far, but keep your eyes peeled, because anybody could saunter onto the set next.
