John Boyega Responds To ‘Rise Of Skywalker’ Backlash & Calls Film “Very Fulfilling” With “Some Disappointments”

If the original “Star Wars” trilogy is known for launching a trio of careers with Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, then the trio that got the most attention in the recent sequel trilogy that began with ‘The Force Awakens’ includes Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, and John Boyega. And of those three, only Boyega has really taken that newfound superstardom and turned it into a bit of a social media empire, as he’s more active than most on Twitter and perfectly happy responding bluntly to critics of his films.

So, when a fan called “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” an “embarrassing” film on Twitter, you better believe that Boyega wouldn’t let that comment go without a reply. As you might expect, the eventual reply didn’t try to placate the fan in any way, and instead, offered a frank, honest response to the insult.

Boyega replied, “Embarrassing ? LOL you wish. Very fulfilling, some disappointments but yet not that big of a deal. Everyone has moved on…..”

As for the disappointments mentioned, the actor doesn’t specify. However, given his previous criticisms of the “Star Wars” films, you can probably guess where he might have been a bit unhappy. That being said, the fact that he’s moved on is great, but it’s likely going to be a long, long, long time before some of the more diehard “Star Wars” fans are done talking about ‘Rise of Skywalker’ and the sequel trilogy, in general. If the backlash to ‘The Last Jedi’ has taught us anything, it’s that social media is rife with folks that aren’t able to move on from “Star Wars” discussions and debates, especially when they have something shitty to say.

Like it or not, Boyega is in for a bleak future of people mentioning “Star Wars” and their issues with the films no matter what he posts about.
