'John Wick' TV Series 'The Continental' Moves Forward At Starz

Our Most Anticipated TV Shows Of 2018 feature is cool and all, but suddenly, the only series I care about is “The Continental.” We’ve know for a while now that a “John Wick” TV show was in the works, but everything is now moving forward at Starz, and we couldn’t be more excited.

At the Television Critics Association‘s winter press tour, Starz CEO Chris Albrecht was pretty pumped about what the show will be bringing to the table. “This series is truly unlike anything else on TV,” he said. “ ‘The Continental ‘ promises to include the thunderous fight sequences and intensely staged shootouts between professional assassins and their targets that fans have come to expect in the ‘John Wick’ movie franchise as well as introduce some new, darkly compelling characters who inhabit this underground world.”

However, there is one little caveat to all this — while Keanu Reeves will stop by and make an appearance, he will not be the star of the show. Essentially, the series will be building out the assassin world of the films, and sit “side-by-side” with the big screen incarnation. Sounds good to us. If everything gets the greenlight (and I’d wager it’s a safe bet Starz will want this brand name show on the dial), Chris Collins (“Sons of Anarchy,” “The Wire,” “Man in the High Castle“) will write the script and serve as showrunner, with Reeves, David Kolstad, and David Leitch joining as executive producers along with him.

No word yet on when the series will air, but I’d assume not long after “John Wick 3” lands on May 17, 2019. [THR]
