The annual Forbes list of overpaid actors has increasingly seemed to become a place to just list a bunch of A-list actors who’ve had recent flops. And even though this piece is dropping at the end of the year, it only takes into account the last three films each actor starred in prior to June. Not sure about that reasoning, other than to keep Will Smith high on the list, despite the $745 million haul of “Suicide Squad.” But I don’t make the rules.
At any rate, Johnny Depp has topped this year’s ranking, no doubt helped by the poor box-office results for “Alice Through The Looking Glass.” Will Ferrell lands on the list thanks to “Zoolander 2,” and there’s a big roundabout argument for Leonardo DiCaprio being on here because $532 worldwide gross for the Oscar-winning “The Revenant” wasn’t enough based on its $135 million budget, which isn’t entirely convincing. Again, this isn’t the most scientifically rigorous list.
At any rate, see the below, and I’m pretty sure all their careers will continue to be just fine.
1. Johnny Depp
2. Will Smith
3. Channing Tatum
4. Will Ferrell
5. George Clooney
6. Adam Sandler
7. Mark Wahlberg
8. Leonardo DiCaprio
9. Julia Roberts
10. Bradley Cooper
