Jon Bon Jovi, Seth Meyers & Til Schweiger Join 'New Year's Eve'

While all the talk lately has been on the hot new indie sensations out of Sundance, here’s a bracing reminder that the Hollywood blockbuster machine is still working hard to churn out garbage.

THR reports that Jon Bon Jovi and Seth Meyers have both joined the already massive ensemble coming together for “New Year’s Eve,” the romcom followup to “Valentine’s Day.” The duo join an already extensive cast that features Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Sienna Miller and Sofia Vergara. In a role that will play to the few strengths that he has as actor (and musician), Jovi will play a rock star who once dumped Berry’s character, a caterer, but runs into her at a party on New Year’s Eve. Oh no! Meanwhile, throwing all believability out the window, Meyers will play the broke husband of a pregnant Jessica Biel and he’s in a race to make sure their baby is the first one born in the year in order to claim a $25,000 prize. They’ll probably learn that no one can put a price on a new kid or some nonsense. Oh yeah, Til Schweiger (“Inglorious Basterds“) also got roped into this somehow too.

Filming on Garry Marshall‘s next ensemble, holiday themed tedium will begin shortly as a December 9, 2011 release date is already penciled in.
