Jonah Hill Calls 'Sausage Party' "A Very Hard And Aggressive R" Rated 3D Animated Film

Wait, what’s "Sausage Party" you ask? Let’s rewind a bit to last summer.

During the midst of the San Diego Comic-Con frenzy, we sat down with Evan Goldberg who was there to promote the upcoming "The Green Hornet." He revealed to us that he and Seth Rogen were working on a “top secret super project” called “Sausage Party.”

“I can tell you no more,” Goldberg said. “But it’s a CG film and involves Seth [Rogen] and Jonah [Hill] who star and Conrad Vernon (voice actor, “Monsters Vs. Aliens,” “Shrek Forever After”) and Mark Osborne (director, “Kung Fu Panda”) are involved. We’ve written that, we’ve finished and are going out to studios with now. We’re very passionate about it. ‘Sausage Party’ is very special to us.”

Since then nothing has been heard about the project, but taking a break from shooting the "The Sitter" with David Gordon Green, Jonah Hill dropped a couple more morsels about the film.

"It’s a 3-D animated movie," Hill told MTV. "Imagine if ‘Shrek’ was R-rated, a very hard and aggressive R. It takes place in a supermarket. I don’t know if I’m giving away too much, but that’s something we’re working on. It’s pretty hysterical!"

And well, that’s about all there is. An adult-oriented, animated film set in a supermarket? Sure, we’re game. But adult-animated fare is typically a very tough sell and it will take a helluva concept to get a studio on board. That said, if anyone could put asses in the seats it would be Goldberg/Hill/Rogen, especially if the material is there to deliver.

As for Hill, he’s coming off a very busy year that has seen him in both "Cyrus" and "Get Him To The Greek." He voiced characters in "How To Train Your Dragon" and the upcoming "Megamind," and spent part of the summer hanging with Brad Pitt shooting "Moneyball." He’s currently shooting "The Sitter" and next spring, he will be back in front of the cameras for the big screen "21 Jump Street."
