Joseph Gordon-Levitt Passed On 'Godzilla,' But Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy & Caleb Landry Jones Being Considered

nullIt seems everyone wants a piece of Joseph Gordon-Levitt these days. The actor was rumored to play Batman in "Justice League," is on the ever growing list of contenders for "Guardians Of The Galaxy," is hosting the Sundance awards later this month, and now has another franchise being tossed across his very messy desk. Needless to say, dude has options.

Well, in case you missed it, earlier today Gareth Edward's "Godzilla" gained a new writer in Frank Darabont, but lost two producers in Dan Lin and Roy Lee, in an ugly battle with Legendary that could go before a judge. But the movie is still chugging along, with a March start date being eyed, which means a cast needs to be assembled. And some names are floating on the interwebs. First off, THR has revealed that last fall Joseph Gordon-Levitt was offered the gig but has passed, while Variety says Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy and Caleb Landry Jones are being considered.

What are the roles? Well, no one really knows, and it's not clear if it's for the same part or not (we doubt Caleb Landry Jones is getting the same offers as Joseph Gordon-Levitt). However, Variety notes that JGL and Cavill are studio choices, with McNairy and Jones as "creative" choices, so again, who knows. And at the end of the day, no formal offers has been made and no script has gone out, so these are just dudes on a list.

So just file it under your hat for now, and we'd reckon more official word is hopefully around the corner unless this producer battle turns really ugly.
