“Gran Turismo” is a slick, detailed, absolutely beautiful car racing video game with zero soul, so who better than Joseph Kosinski to take it on as a film project? The director behind the sleek and totally empty “Tron: Legacy” and “Oblivion” will get the adaptation off the ground for Sony. And while plot details aren’t yet being disclosed, it will apparently “center on a video game player turned racer.” Guess it can’t be any worse than “Need For Speed,” right? And in fairness to Kosinski, he was working on the racing drama “Go Like Hell” that might’ve teamed up Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise before it fell apart, so he’s undoubtedly got a wealth of research and material to draw from. It’s Yeezy season, so you can either complain about the weather or bring a jacket. Kanye West announced during his recent Oxford lecture that Steve McQueen has recently wrapped the video for “All Day” from the rapper’s forthcoming album So Help Me God. And yes, I’m really excited to see what that collaboration yields. [The Fader]
“’71” director Yann Demange continues to use the buzz off his war drama to line up new gigs. He’s already got “The Seven Five” over at Sony, and now Brad Pitt’s Plan B are putting an untitled dramatic thriller on the fast track for the filmmaker. Other than that, there are no details on the flick. [Deadline]
