'Josie' Trailer: The Past Never Dies For Sophie Turner

“Everyone knows everyone in Huntsville” begins the synopsis of “Josie,” the new thriller starring Sophie Turner. That, of course, is not true of the titular character who mysteriously arrives in town. “The past never dies” warns the trailer, suggesting the dark things ahead.

Turner, known for playing Sansa Stark in “Game of Thrones,” has had a busy last couple of years. Outside of the HBO show she is returning as Jean Grey in the upcoming “X-Men: Dark Phoenix.” However, “Josie” represents a departure for Turner, as she goes blond and sports prominent tattoos, including a wolf and a rose. Here is the synopsis for Josie:

Everyone knows everyone in Huntsville. So when tattooed, sweet-talking Josie (Sophie Turner) struts into town, heads turn. Striking up relationships with young punk Gator and loner Hank (Dylan McDermott), she quickly becomes a hot topic of local gossip. But her true intentions for showing up in this small, southern community are far more sinister as her dark past comes to light.

“Josie” is based on the 2004 Black List script “Huntsville” by Anthony Ragone II and directed by Eric England (“Get the Girl”). This isn’t the first iteration of Josie, either. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the film was originally set to star Shea Whigham (“Boardwalk Empire”) and Anya-Taylor Jones (“The Witch”), but obviously that iteration never came to pass.

Joining Turner and McDermott in “Josie” are Jack Kilmer and Robin Bartlett. The film is getting a day-and-date theatrical and on demand release March 16th.
