Jude Law Is On Team Ramsay, Quits 'Jane Got A Gun'

Jude LawSo, if somehow you’ve been away for the past 24 hours, here’s what’s been going on: Lynne Ramsay bailed on the western “Jane Got A Gunon the first day of production yesterday, only to be replaced by “Warrior” helmer Gavin O’Connor this morning, with plans to start shooting tomorrow. Well, they’ll have to scrap those plans as the project has lost another major talent.

Deadline reports that Jude Law has exited the picture, “because he signed on to work with Ramsay.” Sorry, Gavin. While that may be the case, we can also imagine that the actor — who joined last week to help firm up the cast after Michael Fassbender left after supposedly clashing with Ramsay — probably didn’t like what we can only imagine is pure chaos around the production at the moment. There’s no word on who will replace him — he had the key role of the villain in the movie — but this is undoubtedly a major blow.

And yet through all of this, there’s still no word from Ramsay, though that too has its own twists and turns. Huffington Post reached out to her manager Jessica Steindorff, and learned that she’s actually the daughter of the film’s producer, Scott Steindorff. Awkward. But she knows firmly which camp she’s in. “My father Scott Steindorff prevails under extreme amounts of stress and the show will go on,” she said. “Sorry, but in this town it’s family first.” In other words, she’s no longer repping Ramsay.

Clearly, the start date tomorrow is off the table and it’s unclear if the movie will survive this latest blow. Much more to come, we’re sure.
