Since anything can be turned into a movie, studios have lately been turning to holidays as sources of creative inspiration. We’ve already received star-studded ensemble films based around "Valentine’s Day" and "New Year’s Eve," and next on the list is "Mother’s Day."
Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, and Jason Sudeikis are lining up to star in the movie that will be helmed by Garry Marshall, who already did this sort of thing with "New Year’s Eve." Anya Kochoff-Romano ("Monster-In-Law") and Lily Hollander have penned the script for the movie that will present more overlapping stories, this time all about Mom, which is fitting, because she’ll probably be the most excited one to see this. And this isn’t the only "Mother’s Day" movie on the way.

There’s a competing project with the same name that’s already filming, starring Susan Sarandon, Christina Ricci, Laura Dern, and Sharon Stone, but it apparently has a more dramatic edge.
Anyway, the starrier, Marshall-helmed flick starts rolling in August and we presume that’s because the producers will want it ready to be released by next May. [THR]
