Julianne Hough Finds 'Safe Haven' & Gemma Arterton Ready For 'Runner, Runner'

Julianne MooreTwo lovely and talented ladies have lined up some projects, so let's get right to it….

The "Rock of Ages" star Julianne Hough has joined Josh Duhamel (seriously) for Lasse Hallström's "Safe Haven." The movie will tell the story a young woman’s struggle to find love again after she arrives in a small North Carolina town. Her reluctance to join the tight-knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex (Duhamel), a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love. Fans of the author say that this one is different because it's more of a thriller, but we presume it's still happily ever after and golden sunshine for the woman in the end.

Meanwhile, in a much more promising movie, Variety reports that Gemma Arterton has come on board the increasingly excellent cast of "Runner, Runner." Starring Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake, Anthony Mackie and "Project X" star Oliver Cooper, the film penned by David Levien and Brian Koppelman ("Rounders") will tell the story of a Princeton student who gets cheated out of his tuition playing online poker, but winds up as the right hand man of the dude running the site. So imagine if Mark Zuckerberg met the guy who ran MySpace and then….oh wait…. Anyway, Arteron will play Timberlake's love interest, which makes us jealous. "The Lincoln Lawyer" helmer Brad Furman directs and filming kicks off in June.
