Julie Delpy Wants To Cast Woody Allen In Her Next Film 'Virgo Rising'

nullYou can basically draw every neurotic, Jewish comic character on the big screen and small back to Woody Allen in some form or another. For decades, the comic legend has been bringing his brand of comedy to the big screen every year (except the times he dips into drama), and while these days he's mostly comfortable behind the camera, he does taking an acting role if and when the mood suits him. Of course, he's starring in his own "To Rome With Love" this summer, but when it comes to other director's works, he's a bit more choosy. This fall, he's star in John Turturro's "Fading Gigolo," but can he be convinced to take a role in other movie not of his own making?

Julie Delpy certainly hopes so, as she has a new script and she really wants Woody Allen to take a role…if she can work up the courage to talk to him. "I wrote a movie, but maybe it’s bad," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "So I have to see. Maybe it’s not such a good film. It’s called 'Virgo Rising.' It’s very funny. But I don’t know if I’ll do it. I don’t know if I’ll ever dare to offer him the part."

Certainly, Delpy's "2 Days In Paris" and "2 Days In New York" exemplify the exact brand of neurotic, intelligent brand of comedy that Allen trademarked, and we could see him sliding very easily into a comic world she has created. Of course, there are no plot details but the astrological title refers to a person able to adapt to change and different people — thought not always without complaint. And yeah, Allen seems like a good fit.

But of course, he's busy. He's currently shooting his next film in San Francisco and then after that he'll meet with Turturro to make his film. But afterwards? Who knows. Here's hoping Delpy refines her script ("I need to really work on it. Right now it’s a little messy") and then works up the courage to send it over to Allen. She's got nothing to lose, and everything to gain.
