Just Put The 'Nail' In The Coffin Already? Production On David O. Russell's Political Satire Shuts Down For 4th Time

Seriously, just throw in the towel already? David O. Russell’s political satire “Nailed,” has shut down production for a fourth time because of continuing money issues.

Film union IATSE walked off the set on Friday (June 20). Is ThinkFilm – the company producing it – totally fucked?

“I feel terrible if people are hurt by our financial problems,” ThinkFilm’s president Mark Urman told Indiewire the day before the film just down again. “We’re not moving forward on other people’s blood, I can assure you. We’re not fucking people; we’re in trouble. And if people end up getting fucked, we’re fucked too, and we can all be on the unemployment lines together.”

“Nailed” stars – or might star if it’s ever completed – Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel. Is the film totally fucked now? Last we checked the shoot was supposed to end today (June 22). That means the production shut down early with two days left of scenes and shots to pick up. It’s not catastrophic, but it does mean some elements aren’t finished yet. You’ll remember after the third production halt, one principal business exec on the film said, “One more shutdown will kill the movie, not to mention cause hair loss and ulcers.”

Jeffrey Wells at Hollywood Elsewhere thinks a documentary on all the film’s troubles might make a great tragi-comedy not unlike “Lost In La Mancha,” the doc that chronicled Terry Gilliam’s losing battle to film the Don Quixote story. He’s probably not off base.
